Zimbabwe Travel Ideas

The area of Zimbabwe, formerly Southern Rhodesia, has always attracted the attention of great explorers such as Cecil John Rhodes or Dr Livingstone, who in 1850 discovered the majestic Victoria Falls.

Zimbabwe has an immense natural heritage and seemingly unexplored tracks. Rich in parks and nature reserves, it alone has about ten National Parks and five places recognized by UNESCO as World Heritage Sites.

The ruins of Great Zimbabwe, the largest medieval city in Southern Africa, are the country's largest National Monument and demonstrate beyond a shadow of a doubt that ancient Africa had reached an unsuspected level of civilization.

4x4 safaris, canoeing and on foot are just some of the possibilities for exploring this country and its parks include: Hwanga National Park, the largest in Zimbabwe and famous for its concentration of lions, Mana Pools NP overlooking the Zambezi River and protected by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site, Chizarira National Park, famous for the beauty of its landscapes and untouched territories and the equally wild Matusadone National Park, reachable by boat from Lake Kariba.
