Uganda Travel Ideas

A trip to Uganda is a trip to the environmental diversity of Africa: from the great savannahs typical of East Africa, where you can see all the specimens of the large mammals to the forests of Bwindi for the Mountain Gorillas, to the lush plateaus with extensive banana groves and tea plantations, with villages and volcanic craters, to the immense lakes from which the Nile originates, and it is precisely this diversity that makes Uganda a unique destination in Africa.

Seeing mountain gorillas in their natural habitat is one of the most powerful experiences you can have in Africa, and the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest is home to about half of the world's 1,007 remaining mountain gorillas.

Uganda is therefore not only the best country to see mountain gorillas but also one of the best places to see chimpanzees and many other primate species including red colobus and L'Hoest's monkeys and grey-cheeked mangabeys.

With more than 1000 species of birds including the famous Shoe-billed Stork and many other endemic species it is also considered a mecca for birdwatchers from all over the continent.

Safari days in the Queen Elizabeth Np Murchison Falls and Kidepo Valley have nothing to envy to the classic safaris of East and Southern Africa and are capable of giving strong emotions including the famous tree climbing lions of Ishsha often seen lying high up in the branches of huge ficus trees or sightings of leopards, elephants or huge herds of Uganda Kobs or the particular Rothchild's Giraffe.
